COMPETITION RULES
|

Please Note:
|
1. The Pro/Am “Single Dance” Competitions are Closed Syllabus events, except for the “Open Levels”. Participants must only use steps from the ISTD, Fred Astaire or Arthur Murray syllabus corresponding with the standard entered. Invigilators with knowledge of these syllabi will be engaged to make sure this rule is enforced. If an infraction occurs during preliminary rounds, the couple will be given a warning. If the infraction occurs in subsequent rounds or in the final, the couple will be disqualified.
2. In the Single Dance Competitions the Newcomers division is for beginning students with 50 hours or less of private instruction. Additionally, Newcomers are restricted to steps l-5 of the Bronze syllabus and may only enter Newcomers category one time.
3. Age classifications in the Single Dance competitions are determined by the age of the amateur dancer as follows:
a) The minimum age requirement must be met in all divisions.
b) The maximum age requirement would be in effect through the last day of the dancer’s birth year.
example: The Amateur dancer in a Pro/Am Bl partnership (56-65) is eligible to remain in this classification until the day before
their sixty-sixth birthday.
Pro/Am Age Categories:
Pre-Teen - PT Under 12yrs old
Junior - JR 13-17yrs old
Adult A 18-35 A1 36-45 B 46-55 B1 56-65 C 66-75 C1 76-85 D 86+
4. All gentlemen Pro/Am students will be judged separately from the lady students.
5. Age Classifications in the Amateur Divisions are determined as follows:
A: 18+ B: 35+ C: 50+
6. Pro/Am Pre-Teen or Junior competitors who have previously competed as adults are not eligible to enter the Pro/Am Pre-Teen or Junior divisions of this event.
7. In any Professional or Amateur division with fewer than three (3) couples entered, the organizers reserve the right to cancel the
event. In the event organizer does decide to hold an event which has fewer than three couples organizer reserves the right to lower the overall purse for that event. Competitors will be duly notified in advance of such cancellation.
8. Open Professional Showdance Challenge is available to all professional including Theatre Arts couples. Time limit will be 3 minutes including Tag Music on and off the floor. Music must be provided on CD or Mini Disc only, cassette tapes will not be accepted. Judging will be based on Artistic and Technical presentation. Costume props will be permitted.
9. No couple is exempt from competing in any round of a Championship division. Any couple who fails to appear at the scheduled time for
the first round of any event will be disqualified from the event.
10. “No responsibility for loss or theft of articles left in Changing Rooms, Ballrooms or Hotel Rooms can be accepted by Caribbean Dancesport Classic, D.L.V. LLC, Danny Villavicencio, Gary McDonald and neither can they be held liable for injury sustained by persons attending this event.
Everyone attending does so at his or her own risk”.
11. Private video taping of any event at Caribbean Dancesport Classic is strictly prohibited except for the official video company as designated by the organizer.
